New Mazda 3 System: Stealth Upgrade
Today we had a chance to redo the audio system on a stock 2006 Mazda 3 Sport. While this car had the factory audio upgrade (6 disc changer, slightly better speakers), the owner was never quite happy with it and asked Driven Audio to help build a better system. The full setup involved the installation of all new JL speakers as well as a 600 watt amplifier and a 12″ subwoofer.
The owner is an avid camper, so we wanted to preserve as much space in the hatchback as we could. To that end, we decided to use a slim subwoofer and hide the subwoofer and amplifier in the spare tire well underneath the floor of the hatchback. This involved raising the floor of the hatchback slightly, but resulted in the subwoofer and amplifier being completely concealed. Better yet, the entire trunk space was still available for storing camping gear!
The owner was extremely pleased with the end result, and will be blasting some tunes out in the great outdoors again soon!
