Driven Audio is now offering the world’s first radio replacement module to work with many Mercedes-Benz COMAND Radio equiped vehicles on the M.O.S.T network.

Many Mercedes radios from 2003 to 2008 vehicles,  don’t have Bluetooth or they have outdated Bluetooth that may not be compatible with today’s phones.  And when the radio breaks, the factory replacement can cost $4,000 to $5,000.

In many cases, the factory cost to replace the  radio can be between 10% to 40% of the total value of the vehicle.

Mercedes-Benz COMAND Radio Upgrade Kit

With our module, the replacement cost is drastically reduced.  The kits price plus the cost of an aftermarket radio and installation is all that is required.  And this provides the vehicle owner updated features such as App control, iPhone/Android control and updated Bluetooth, depending on the radio. The kit works with radios from Pioneer, Kenwood, JVC and others.

It works on the M.O.S.T. fiber optic system used by Mercedes-Benz Command Radio systems.  “Typically if you were to remove a factory Mercedes radio to add an aftermarket radio you would also need to replace speakers and an amplifier, creating, again, an expensive install.  The module permits users to replace the radio but retain the factory amplifier and speakers, said Derek Schmiedl, who was heavily involved in the development and quality control of the interface.

The interface accepts the analog audio outputs of  a new aftermarket radio, and converts them to an optical signal compatible with the M.O.S.T. protocols used in the audio system from Mercedes-Benz,” thus relieving the client of an expensive install replacing the amplifier, speakers, and subwoofer,” said Schmiedl.

Just like the Wet Sounds Revolution series of HLCD tower speakers the ICON-8 comes in a variety of fitment options. Available with the TC3-Fixed universal stainless steel clamp for pipe towers with hidden wiring inside the clamps. For those that prefer to have a speaker that can rotate (spin) and be quick disconnected with one bolt for safe keeping, the ICON-8 is available with the Patent Pending TC-3 Swivel stainless steel clamp that offers universal fitment on pipe towers as well as a removable base plate for cast mount towers. The TC-3 swivel also features integrated wiring for the speaker as well as the optional 6 pin wiring connector for speaker connection and LED lighting all hidden inside the clamp. For those with cast style towers, the ICON-8 is available in X versions for direct mounting on cast style towers.  The ICON-8 is available in gloss black or gloss white.
